Intilaaqah Awards Deadline Extended

In response to overwhelming requests from local entrepreneurs, application deadline for Intilaaqah Awards has been extended to 30 September 2010. This was announced today on Intilaaqah’s official website (www.intilaaqah.org).

The awards recognize successful entrepreneurs who have been running their business’s for at least 2 years. Entrepreneurs have a chance to win Rials 5,000 in cash for the first place, Rials 3,000 and Rials 2,000 for the second and third place respectively. Additionally, all winners will receive in-kind prizes.

“Small and Medium Enterprises play a key role in the development of local economy in both emerging markets and developing countries. In India for instance, studies show that SME’s are expected to contribute 22% of the Gross Domestic Product by 2012. SME does also play a role in the development of local communities by creating employment opportunities.” Said Abdullah Al Jufaili, Deputy General Manager, Operations

“Every year a large number of entrepreneurs across Oman submit their entries to compete in the awards. Eligible candidates can login to our website and register their business details to compete.” Adds Al Jufaili

Intilaaqah - a US$ 17 million fund managed by GroFin - is one of Shell social investment initiatives. The objective is to support the development of SME’s in the Sultanate by providing guidance, business development services and growth finance ranging from Rials 20,000 to 380,000.
