Intilaaqah conducted 'Bright Ideas’ training for Beneficiaries of “Mawarid Al Rizq Projects”
In collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development represented by “Mawarid Al Rizq Projects”, The Intilaaqah programme, which is one of Shell’s social investment programs in Oman, participated in the First Gulf Festival for Social Work. Ms. Salma Al Bulushi conducted a workshop titled ‘Bright Ideas’ on Monday 17th March 2008 at the Disabled Care & Rehabilitation Centre – Al Khodh. The workshop was delivered to 22 beneficiaries of “Mawarid Al Rizq Projects”
This one-day training course, covers some topics and exercises to motivate participants to think innovatively. It encourages them to think positively when starting their own business. It also emphasizes the importance of looking at entrepreneurship as an option for job seekers aged 18 to 32.
For reference, “Intilaaqah” is a non-profit programme that is modelled on a Shell-funded initiative called “LiveWIRE”, which is currently running now in 25 countries around the world. The purpose of Intilaaqah is to stimulate and encourage unemployed young Omanis to consider the option of starting their own businesses, and to provide assistance to those who wish to take-up that option. The programme was launched in 1995 during the celebration of the Sultanate's 25th National Day with ambitious objectives to:
- Provide young Omani Job Seekers with the tools to develop their business ideas by offering personal counselling and referral to training in preparation for staring a business.
- Help the Omani government’s aim of diversifying of the economy away from oil and gas.
- Help create an entrepreneurial culture in Oman
- Demonstrate Shell’s commitment to the sustainable development of the Sultanate
The Programme is supported by several organization from both the government and private sectors includes: -SANAD Programme, Knowledge Oasis Muscat, Sultan Qaboos University, Bank Muscat, National Bank of Oman, Oman International Bank and Oman Air
“The bright Ideas workshop is one of other workshops the programme provides free of charge. It also conducts (Become a Successful Owner Manager Workshop), (Beat the Business Blues) and an extensive training program called ().
